Streamscapes on ‘Ireland on the Fly’ Podcast

Apr 2, 2025

We were delighted to be featured on this week’s episode of Ireland on the Fly, where our own Mark Boyden joined the conversation to share insights into the work we do at StreamScapes.

Since the early 1990s, StreamScapes has been dedicated to aquatic and biodiversity education, helping communities, schools, and families connect with their local rivers and water catchments. Our origins trace back to the establishment of the Coomhola Salmon Trust in West Cork in 1989 by Paul Kearney and Mark Boyden. From those beginnings, StreamScapes was born, growing into a nationally recognised programme focused on engaging people with their local environments in meaningful and lasting ways.

In the podcast, Mark speaks about how empowering local communities—especially young people and their families—to understand and protect their catchments is key to fostering long-term stewardship of our natural resources. It’s not just about education; it’s about creating a sense of connection and responsibility for the places we live in and depend on.

We’re honoured to continue this work and thrilled to have had the opportunity to share our mission with Ireland on the Fly listeners.
