Dive into Nature with StreamScapes this Heritage Week!
We’re thrilled to invite you to a week of wild, watery wonder as part of National Heritage Week 2025! This year, StreamScapes is hosting a series of inspiring, interactive events that celebrate the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of Ireland’s rivers, streams, and wetlands. Whether you’re getting your hands wet in a workshop, joining an online talk, or helping bring salmon stories to life through art, there’s something here for everyone.
Here’s what’s on:
Salmon Celebration
Monday 18th August | 2:00 – 6:00 PM | StreamSchool, Coomhola, P75 TY47
Join us for a joyful, free participatory art event that follows the epic journey of the salmon through a series of creative stations. From freshwater beginnings to ocean voyages, you’ll explore the salmon life cycle in fun, hands-on ways. Expect art, nature, music and some live music! No tickets necessary, the event is open to all.
Aquatic Invertebrates & Dragonflies Online Talk
Tuesday 19th August | 12:00 – 2:00pm | Free via Zoom
Discover the secret lives of aquatic invertebrates and how these often-overlooked species tell us vital information about our water quality. Entomologist and wildlife photographer Julia Cooper will also take us on a virtual dragonfly safari, introducing some of the stunning dragonflies and damselflies found across Ireland’s wetlands. We’d love for you to join us! Whether you’re curious about local aquatic wildlife, passionate about heritage, or just looking for a meaningful way to spend a summer afternoon, these events are open, inclusive, and full of heart.
